Bike, walk, and bus commuters will be hoping to win big in the coming days when Bike Walk Bus Week, an annual celebration of sustainable transportation organized by Missoula In Motion, kicks off this Saturday, September 19. As part of the festivities, Mountain Line, Missoula’s community public transit system, will hold a drawing for a new Torker T-29 Cruiser bicycle on Friday, September, 25. There is no cost to enter and registration is open until September 24 at mountainline.com for anyone 18 or older.
A new bike is just one of many rewards and prizes up for grabs during the week-long event, with everything from free coffee to discounts and coupons available for cyclists, pedestrians and bus riders at a number of area businesses and organizations.
To kick off the work week, Mountain Line will be giving away free coffee from Black Coffee Roasting Company and complimentary scones from Le Petit Outre at the downtown Transfer Center from 7am-9am, Monday, September 21. The transit company also plans to distribute their latest Route Map & Schedule and help commuters learn more about the Mountain Line Mobile App for smart phone users. For riders interested in claiming prizes at area businesses, “I Ride The Line” stickers and Bike Walk Bus Week booklets will also be available in the Route Map racks at the front of each bus in service during the week.
“More than anything, we want to remind people that the whole community benefits from public transit, not just our riders. When you bike, walk or bus, you help reduce congestion, improve air quality, and keep our city and its residents healthy, not just yourself,” says Bill Pfeiffer, Mountain Line community outreach coordinator. “If you ride the bus this week, grab a sticker so you can claim your prizes around town and also let people know that you support public transit in Missoula.”
For a complete list of Bike Walk Bus Week giveaways and events, pick up a Bike Walk Bus Week booklet at participating businesses, on the buses, or visit Missoula In Motion for an online schedule. For a full list of Mountain Line events during the week, see the schedule below.
