This month, Mountain Line is celebrating its 35th birthday. I know this isn’t just one more element in the conspiracy to make me feel old, but it does have that effect. I was a (young!) freshman legislator back in 1975 when a handful of Missoula City Council members asked me to help them create a new Montana statute authorizing the creation of “urban transportation districts.” I remember Bill Bradford, Richard Smith and Jack Morton being among those aldermen; if there were others whom I’ve overlooked, please forgive me and chalk it up to an aging memory.
