There’s more than one Brawl of the Wild, and Mountain Line is doing its part to bring the Griz to victory in the annual Can the Bobcats Food Drive. Every year, in the weeks before the big game, the University of Montana and Montana State University square off to see which community can generate the most food and donations for area food banks. Despite the Griz dominating the Brawl on the football field, the ‘Cats continue to dominate the food drive. To help turn the tide, Mountain Line will be holding a “Stuff the Trolley” event from 10:30am until 3:30pm at Washington-Grizzly Stadium on Saturday, Nov. 14, the final home game of the season.
“We’ve held our own holiday food drive internally here at Mountain Line for many years,” said Bill Pfeiffer, Mountain Line community outreach coordinator. “This year we decided to help the entire community collect donations to give Missoula a better shot at topping the ‘Cats.”
Mountain Line’s Trolley is a well-known sight around Missoula, providing rides to the Saturday Markets and Out to Lunch in Caras Park during the warm season. Griz fans are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to drop off at the Trolley before halftime. Monetary donations to the Missoula Food Bank also count towards the total, with $1 equivalent to 1lb. of food. The community with the most pounds raised by halftime of the Brawl of the Wild on Nov. 21 in Bozeman wins.
“If everyone coming to the game brought just one can of food, we’d fill the Trolley in no time!” Pfeiffer said. “We hope Griz fans will help us feed local families in need and finally get our bragging rights back.” For more information on Can The Bobcats and a complete list of drop off locations or to make a monetary donation, visit www.canthebobcats.com or follow Bobcats Canned Food Drive on Facebook.
