Mountain Line and Air Quality Alerts

Mountain Line will offer FREE RIDES after any air quality alert announcing “Unhealthy” conditions for everyone.

Mountain Line will continue to offer free rides when air quality conditions warrant it.  Federal regulations for air particulate levels have recently changed, and the stages of air quality, from best to worst are as follows:  Good, Moderate, Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups, Unhealthy, Very Unhealthy and Hazardous.

Here’s how the free rides on unhealthy air quality days program will work:

During periods of poor air quality in Missoula, the air quality rating is updated frequently by the Missoula City-County Health Department.  When the air quality is rated Unhealthy or worse at any point throughout a service day, bus transportation will be free of charge for the remainder of that day.  If the air quality is rated Unhealthy or worse at the end of the Mountain Line service day, bus transportation will be free of charge the following day.
