This summer from June 1st through August 31st, youth ages 18 and under can ride Mountain Line free, giving them the chance to explore, find new places to play and be involved throughout Missoula.
All kids need to do is find the nearest Mountain Line bus stop to begin riding. Parents can be rest assured the prompt and regular Mountain Line service—with 12 routes and up to 18 buses running throughout the city daily —will provide kids with a safe way to get to and from summer activities.
“Mountain Line is pleased to have community partners who value zero-fare service for kids in the summer,” said Mountain Line General Manager Michael Tree. “The generous contributions assure that transportation is not an obstacle to great destinations that will help make this a kid’s best summer yet.”
This year’s sponsors are the Missoulian, Southgate Mall, Missoula In Motion, and Providence St. Patrick Hospital. “Providing kids with the opportunity to move throughout their community is a value we all share,” said Tim Winger, Southgate Mall’s General Manager. “Mountain Line is providing a valuable community service to our children, and we are excited to be a partner.”

In addition to providing kids free rides to find fun, Mountain Line is partnering this summer with Montana No Kid Hungry to help expand participation in the Free Summer Meal program throughout the community by positioning all locations along bus routes. “Breakfast or lunch at school is often the only reliable meal many kids can count on during the day. This partnership will ensure that kids get the healthy food they need.” said Saray Amundson Community Health and Nutrition Specialist with Montana No Kid Hungry.
More than 40,000 free rides were provided to Missoula kids during the summer of 2013. For more information regarding Mountain Line, Kids Ride Free or the Free Summer Meal Program participating locations please visit www.mountainline.com or call the customer service phone line at 721-3333.
