MISSOULA, MONTANA (May 1, 2014) — This weekend Mountain Line transit operator Brian Ursery will be competing with operators from the all over the world at the 2014 International Bus “Roadeo” in Kansas City, Kansas. Hosted by the American Public Transportation Association, the competition features a technically difficult, 12-event obstacle course.
“Brian is hands-down the best transit operator in our state,” said Michael Tree, General Manager of Mountain Line. “This is his sixth invitation to the International Bus Roadeo and Missoula is lucky to have him.”
In 2011, at the International Bus Roadeo in Memphis, Tennessee, Ursery made headlines by winning the National Customer Service competition. “Doing a job like this, you interact with lots of different types of people every day” said Ursery. “You can never be too sure what kind of day a person is having, so I like to do my best in making sure that it’s a good one.”
In addition to competing at the International Bus Roadeo, Ursery earned a record five wins at the Montana Bus Roadeo competition. His outstanding talents merited Mountain Line’s Operator of the Year award five record times.
Mountain Line is Missoula’s popular public transit system. Recent improvements include free Wi-Fi aboard buses, BusTracker technology that notifies arrivals in real time, 15-minute frequency “Bolt! service” on its busiest route, and two new bike stations with two more on the way. Thanks to passage of the recent mill levy, Mountain Line will add additional Bolt! service in January of 2015 and operate its four most popular routes until 10pm.
