Mobile Phone Website Released - http://mobile.mountainline.com/

A website for mobile phones designed to make it easier for commuters to find route and schedule information on the go. The website, available at http://mobile.mountainline.com/, is a simplified website with basic schedule information that is specifically designed for display on small screens. Passengers with cellular phones, BlackBerries or other mobile devices can access the site from anywhere they happen to be, even while running to the bus stop.

Jordan Hess, a student of geography at The University of Montana who also launched Google Transit for Mountain Line, designed the site. The site is a great way to harness cellular phones to give passengers more information. "This service will be great for those times when you need to catch a bus but don’t have a schedule handy.” said Hess. "Many people want to ride the bus for the environmental or cost benefits, but don’t know where to start; this will help them have the confidence to climb on board.”

“Mountain Line is looking to cost effective technologies to provide convenience to our passengers.” said General Manager Steve Earle.

The website is the latest in a series of technological improvements designed to make it easier to ride the bus. Last year, Mountain Line added a trip planner, Google Transit, designed to help bus patrons plan their bus trip. Mountain Line is also in the process of upgrading its website.

From the Transfer Center buses will turn right on Orange, left on Spruce, right on Scott, right on Pullman, right on Dickens, left on Stoddard to North 5th, right on Orange and to the Transfer Center. This routing arrangement eliminates travel on Holmes and Defoe streets.

Inbound time points from West Riverside and Staple and US 200 will be adjusted, in the afternoon only, to allow buses to flow through without layover for timely arrivals at the Transfer Center.

Route 5:
All buses will travel west on Lolo, right on Duncan, right on Linden, right on Woodland, left on Lolo and return to normal routing. One bus stop will be developed in this area to eliminate multiple stops.

Route 6:
The inbound time points will be adjusted beginning at Southgate Mall, utilizing the time saved by the routing change on the outbound route 2.

Route 8:
This route will be extended to 60 minutes and will serve Southgate Mall. Buses will travel outbound through current routing to the Adams Center traveling west on 5th Street turning left at Catlin, right at 10th, left at Eaton, left at North, right at Johnson, left at South, right at Grant and into the new bus stop at Southgate Mall. Inbound from Southgate Mall buses will travel from Grant turning left at South, right at Johnson, left at North, right at Eaton, right at 10th, left at Catlin, right at 5th, right at Russell, left at 6th to the Adams Center, to the Madison Street bridge, left at Main and to the Transfer Center downtown.

Route 10:
The outbound 6:45am route 10 will no longer turn off of the highway to serve either the Airport or the Smoke Jump Center. A route 11 change will provide the needed timely service directly to the Smoke Jump Center shelter as well as the airport.

Route 11:
The 6:45am route 11 trip will travel along West Broadway from downtown directly to the Smoke Jump Center shelter arriving 10 minutes earlier than current service.

All route 11 trips will travel outbound as well as inbound along West Broadway between the Transfer Center and Latimer Street. The Pleasant View subdivision will be served inbound as well as outbound on all but the 5:40am and the 6:45am express trips.

All route 11 trips, with the exception of the 5:40am and the 6:45am express trips, will travel westbound along Expressway and eastbound on Highway 10 West. The express trips will travel eastbound along Expressway and westbound on Highway 10 West.
