If you’re a local commuter or downtown employee that usually skips the most important meal of the day, get ready to shake off your mid-morning “hangry” thanks to Ninja Mike’s. The popular Clark Fork Market vendor is bringing locally-sourced breakfast, coffee, and fresh baked goods to Mountain Line’s Downtown Transfer Center retail space to kick off the school year. Ninja Mike’s will host a Grand Opening at their new brick-and-mortar establishment, 200 W. Pine St. on September 4 from 6:30am to 2pm. The first 50 customers will receive a free locally-roasted cup of coffee. Customers can order at either the bike/walk up window on the corner of Pine and Ryman or at the counter inside the Transfer Center.
“At Ninja Mike’s, we feel that sustainable commuting and sustainable food should go hand-in-hand,” said Ethan Sky Siegel, owner and operator of Ninja Mike’s. “This is a great opportunity to bring some local, sustainably-sourced food to Downtown Missoula, and our goal is providing transit riders and all Missoulians with a community-based quick breakfast option.”
Ninja Mike’s began as a food stand at the Saturday Clark Fork Market in 2009, before expanding their operation to a mobile food truck in 2016. Dedicated to sustainable business practices and intentional food resourcing through relationships with local farmers, ranchers, bakers, and other food suppliers, Ninja Mike’s new location will offer online ordering, made-to-order, grab-and-go options, and a new breakfast sandwich on house-made English muffins. In addition, the new restaurant’s expanded menu will include burritos, tacos, potato skillets, locally roasted coffees, and more.
“We’re really excited to welcome Ninja Mike’s to the Transfer Center for commuters and the public,” said Amy Cilimburg, Mountain Line Board Chair. “Zero-fare benefits our entire community by keeping transportation affordable for all, and we hope Ninja Mike’s can keep our riders fueled up and ready to tackle their day.”
Ninja Mike’s grabbed widespread attention earlier this year for their original and entertaining Indiegogo crowd funding campaign that blended humorous videos with original and unique incentives for potential donors, like personal rap songs written by Skye. With much-needed improvements to the kitchen area now complete, Ninja Mike’s is ready to serve downtown Missoula with their quality local breakfast starting September 4.
“Ethan and Ninja Mike’s have shown that they’re committed to offering a great product that meets the needs of people on the go, who still want to enjoy high-quality food,” Cilimburg said. “This is a much needed quick-stop breakfast and coffee option for bus riders, shoppers, and downtown employees and we’re happy to see them bringing great cuisine and new energy to the Transfer Center.”
